Nkiru Aningwu is a Cybersecurity and GRC leader whose career bridges
Big Four consulting and enterprise risk — bringing structure, rigor, and
clarity to the most complex compliance challenges.
Currently a Cybersecurity Engineer on the Cybersecurity Risk team at
PayPal, Nkiru leads control attestation, governance framework uplift, and
risk documentation across Security, Privacy, and Engineering domains.
With over 15 years of experience spanning organizations in financial
services, energy, aviation, and retail — including roles at Air Canada,
Alberta Energy Regulator, Canadian Tire Corporation, Shaw
Communications, Deloitte, and KPMG — Nkiru has built and matured
cybersecurity control frameworks, led SOX compliance engagements,
directed third-party risk programs, and driven regulatory alignment
across GDPR, SOX, PCI DSS, PIPEDA, and NIST.
She holds a Master of Electronic Business Technologies from the
University of Ottawa and a B.Sc. in Computer Science, along with CISA,
CCSP, and CISM certifications. She combines technical depth with
executive communication to translate complex regulatory requirements
into clear, actionable control frameworks that business and security
teams can execute together.
Beyond her corporate role, Nkiru serves as Chair of the Mentorship
Program at the WiCyS Austin Affiliate, where she champions
professional development and community growth for women in
cybersecurity
