Fareena Saqib

Dr. Fareena Saqib is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte). Her research focuses on hardware security and trust, semiconductor supply-chain security, IoT security, side-channel analysis, Physical Unclonable Function (PUF)-based authentication, resilient hardware design, and FPGA-based hardware acceleration. She has led and contributed to research projects supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), National Science Foundation (NSF), and Duke Energy, addressing hardware vulnerabilities, device authentication, side-channel attacks, and secure and resilient computing systems.
Dr. Saqib has held leadership and professional service roles in the hardware security and design automation communities, including program leadership for IEEE HOST, DAC, and WISE, as well as IEEE leadership and technical program committee service. She has participated in the Trusted and Assured Microelectronics (TAME) Hardware Vulnerability Database Working Group and serves as an NSF panelist and reviewer for specialized journals and conferences. She is a Senior Member of IEEE, and her expertise provides a strong foundation for advancing research in secure semiconductor systems, heterogeneous integration, and next-generation chiplet technologies.
