Alexander A. Nartey is an accomplished Researcher, Information Security Professional, and Consultant with over 20 years of distinguished professional experience, including more than 10 years dedicated to cybersecurity practice and leadership. He currently serves as IT Security Manager for Research Security at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), where he leads critical initiatives at the intersection of cybersecurity, research integrity, and regulatory compliance.

Mr. Nartey has previously provided expert cybersecurity consulting services to Verizon Professionals, New York University, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, strengthening institutional security postures across diverse and complex environments. At UTHealth, he played a pivotal role in developing the institution’s vendor security management program and in achieving Texas Risk and Authorization Management Program (TX-RAMP) compliance under Texas Senate Bill 475. He is presently spearheading the development of UTHealth’s Research Cybersecurity and Compliance Program, aligning institutional research activities with evolving state and federal security requirements.

His expertise spans Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC); Research Cybersecurity, IT, and privacy risk program development and management; data security; vulnerability management; security awareness and training; cloud security assessments; incident response; internal security assessments; and the implementation of major security frameworks.

Through his leadership in research, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance, Mr. Nartey continues to make significant contributions to advancing secure research environments and strengthening institutional resilience in an increasingly complex digital landscape.

Mr. Nartey has a couple of Cybersecurity certifications. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), and Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer and AI Security.

He is currently a PhD candidate in Healthcare Cybersecurity at Capitol Technology University, Washington, DC. USA.

Mr. Nartey was recognized and awarded the UTHealth Classified Staff Council Spotlight Award for 2025 for his immense contributions to the University’s cybersecurity program.
