Jason Murray is the Senior Director of Information Security at Washington University in St. Louis, where he leads the teams responsible for incident response, vulnerability management, ethical hacking, and security engineering.

He has spent his career designing and maintaining complex systems across startups, Internet service providers, higher education, and healthcare, giving him a ground-level understanding of how security works (and fails) in the real world. At WashU, he’s focused on building strong security foundations while helping the university adapt to an evolving threat landscape: implementing automation, maturing detection and response capabilities, and partnering across campus to make security a shared practice rather than an afterthought.

Jason is known for balancing technical depth with a pragmatic understanding of how people and organizations operate. He believes that well-designed security systems are ones people actually want to use, and he’s passionate about building trust, developing his team, and creating a security culture that reduces risk to WashU.
