In collaboration with partners and cross-functional teams, Aunudrei has established global security practices from scratch, designed cutting-edge programs, upgraded infrastructures, and adopted risk-based, intelligence-driven approaches to combat evolving threats.
He has also revolutionized security operations, fostering positive customer experiences that transform security teams from rule enforcers to trusted business partners. As a former Deputy CISO and Senior Director of Information Security, Aunudrei oversaw the security vision, strategy, and technology stack for Allianz Life, part of the 150K-employee Allianz SE enterprise. He partnered with the internal service provider to orchestrate security—encompassing risk, governance, compliance, threat intelligence, incident response, and training—while working to develop a culture that empowered people and energized the business.
Before joining Allianz, Aunudrei built a successful career with Cisco. He started by designing and implementing wireless networks and security infrastructures for Fortune 100 companies around the world. From there, he positioned Cisco at the forefront of cybersecurity by building the product management practice and standardizing security operations globally. Then he led the group he created—and revamped the security function with an engaging, compassionate customer experience.
His contributions were unmatched—for both Cisco and its clients. He developed security strategies and architectures for some of the world’s largest companies while increasing revenue, improving account retention, and scaling Cisco’s workforce to support this growth.
Prior to his tenure with Cisco, Aunudrei helped establish the wireless practice and implement communications networks for Medtronic, a medical device company with offices in 60 countries. Earlier, he established the foundation for his tech-savvy career in IT and IS positions for leading companies like BAE Systems and Spherion.
A curious, lifelong learner, Aunudrei holds a BS in Cybersecurity & Information Assurance from Western Governors University. He is a graduate of AltMBA, the Carnegie Mellon CISO program, National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) training, and the Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF) Executive Academy. He holds many credentials, including GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) and GIAC Strategic Planning, Policy & Leadership (GSTRT).
Aunudrei has presented his ideas and unique perspective at industry conferences nationwide. He is a contributing author for the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) and one of the standout authors of the book Emerging Leadership: Black Tech Voices Redefining Executive Excellence. He serves on the advisory board of SixThirty Cyber & Privacy, and the board of directors for the Saint Paul Conservatory of Music.
